Workers compensation fraud is estimated to be the second
largest white collar crime in the nation, second only to
income tax evasion. CompSource Oklahomas definition of fraud is quite
simple:
Fraud exists when an
individual intentionally provides false information or
lies to obtain something to which he is not entitled.

An act of workers compensation
fraud can result in up to 7 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
CompSource Oklahomas Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been in force
since 1993 to detect and investigate fraudulent activity.
The SIU works closely with the Oklahoma State Attorney
Generals office in reviewing cases and vigorously
prosecuting violators of the workers compensation
statutes. The SIU also partners with policyholders to prevent
workers comp fraud and abuse. The SIUs fraud
fighting efforts have also resulted in numerous criminal
felony charges and convictions since inception of the
unit.
