Frequently Asked Questions

What is CompSource Oklahoma’s other states coverage program?
CompSource now has the ability to secure workers’ compensation insurance coverage for Oklahoma-based employers who may have operations or employees working primarily outside the state of Oklahoma. To implement its other states workers’ compensation coverage program, CompSource has entered into an agreement with The PMA Insurance Group and Midlands Management Corporation; both are subsidiaries of PMA Capital Corporation.

How can other states coverage help my business?
CompSource’s other states program will help improve the ease of doing business and will eliminate the additional time spent securing insurance from various workers’ compensation markets.

Who qualifies for other states coverage?
Applicants must be Oklahoma-based employers, in good standing with CompSource Oklahoma. For a list of general account eligibility requirements view Program Guidelines.

How does an employer apply for coverage?
Oklahoma employers may apply for coverage through CompSource or through a CompSource contracted agent. See Application Requirements.

What are the rates for CompSource’s other states coverage program?
Workers’ compensation premium rates are based on each state’s filed rates and are subject to change.

Can an employer have a CompSource other states coverage policy without a CompSource Oklahoma policy?
No. An employer has to have an active CompSource Oklahoma policy to be eligible for its other states coverage program.

Does other states coverage affect the policyholder’s Oklahoma premium?
No. It does not affect the Oklahoma premium. The other states coverage is a separate premium under a separate policy secured through CompSource.

Who handles other states coverage claims?
Claims will be handled by PMA on behalf of CompSource Oklahoma.

How does an employer report an injury?
There are many different ways to file a first notice of injury for an other states coverage policy. Go to the other states coverage Claims Reporting page to find the best option.

Will the claims benefits be the same as the Oklahoma policy?
No. Each state’s workers’ compensation benefits vary by each state’s workers’ compensation laws.

If a claim goes to court, where will the trial take place?
Trials will take place in the state where jurisdiction is granted.

Are cost containment programs offered with other states coverage?
Yes. A preferred provider organization (PPO) and a pharmacy benefit manager program (PBM) are offered as part of CompSource’s other states coverage program. Cost containment programs are coordinated through PMA.

Will safety services be provided with other states coverage?
Yes. Safety services, also known as loss control services, will be provided by PMA as required by each state's law and/or regulations.

Can other states coverage be canceled any time?
A policyholder or the insurer has the right to cancel the policy. Cancellations will be processed by the laws and regulations of each state.
